29 March 2005 – Jonathan King – Pop impresario and singer – jailed on charges of child abuse, but now freed on parole) leaving Maidstone prison as he poses for photos.

“Well, I’ve had an absolutely brilliant three and a half years for crimes I did not commit. I’ve been as impressed with the prison service as I’ve been depressed by the police and the CPS. What does remain true is that I’m totally, absolutely, one hundred per cent innocent of the convictions and my lawyer, Giovanni Di Stefano, guarantees me that the convictions will be quashed on appeal”.

“The actual quote from Mr King was that when he was in his 20s, and when age of consent was 21, he broke the law, he has made it abundantly clear, the age of consent being 16, he has not broken the law.”
